Extension Lecture cum Interactive session by Research and Development Cell

Prof. Bhim Singh Dahiya Former Vice Chancellor of Kurukshetra University, former Head Department of English and an eminent Academician Delivered a talk and interactive session on the topic "The Idea of Research and its Historical Evolution."
The talk was organised by the Research and Development Cell of Government College Bherian (Pehowa) on 19.11.2025. Prof Dahiya underlined the need for a social relevance of research combined with personal growth. He emphasized on the hard work and commitment of the researcher for carrying out good research. At the same time he also
He explained how research has evolved significantly from ancient times to its modern interpretation. Initially, "research" was informal, encompassing the general human drive for knowledge acquisition and understanding through observation and philosophical inquiry. The Scientific Revolution in the 16th and 17th centuries established systematic observation and experimentation as the primary methods for generating reliable knowledge. The 19th and 20th centuries saw the institutionalization of research within universities and dedicated laboratories, formalizing processes like peer review and funding. Today, research is a global, collaborative endeavor, increasingly interdisciplinary and reliant on advanced technology and data analysis to solve complex problems and drive innovation.
Thereafter, Prof Dahiya had a special interactive session with MA English students. He shared memories of his academic journey, some of the life lessons and motivated the students to work hard and shine out in the crowd of this world. All the students enthusiastically took part in the discussion.
